It was a pleasure spending time with shareholders and supporters at this year’s annual meeting, held in person at The Haight and online. We appreciate everyone who took the time to participate in shaping the future of our grocery co-op.
A recap of the meeting’s slides can be found here. If you have questions or would like to learn how get involved or how to join our co-op as a shareholder, please contact us.
Some key takeaways:
- Shared Harvest now represents 1101 households with 1603 total shares sold.
- We significantly increased our community outreach this year in part due to support from our HFFI Planning Grant award in 2024.
- Any shareholder who did not receive a mailing from us in October should please contact us as your address in our files may be outdated.
- Volunteers make a big difference and we invite members of the community to get involved.
- Due to the increase in size of our board, we adopted a bylaws revision to assure that no more than one third of terms expire in each year.
- Three new board members were elected to the team and five current board members were re-elected to new terms.
- We’ve expanded our site search to neighborhoods adjacent to downtown Elgin, and are considering a smaller footprint.
- Our top goals and priorities for the coming year are: securing a viable location, expanding shareholder and community relationships, and setting the stage for funding store development.
- Shareholders and community members who are interested in lending their time and talent, or have specific questions, are invited to contact us.
- One lucky winner was awarded a $150 gift card to Food Shed Co-op through our 226 by 2026 Campaign.
Thank you for all who helped prepare for and present during this year’s annual meeting – and many thanks to those who turned out to participate in our democratically-led cooperative.
