Outreach Coordinator/ Marketing Support - part time

Job Description

The primary function of the Outreach Coordinator will be to serve as an advocate for Shared Harvest Food Cooperative. The Outreach coordinator will communicate with current and new shareholders.  She/he will have direct responsibility to develop promotional strategies that will acquire new shareholders by creating and executing shareholder acquisition programs based on marketing goals.  The Outreach Coordinator will report to the Marketing Committee and will assist with the following duties, but not limited to:
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and implement summer/fall outreach plan that includes promotional and educational strategies.
  2. Responsible for developing and implementing outreach and marketing activities, campaigns, and strategies to promote. This can be done through a combination of personal contacts, special events, promotions, online media, brochures, other
  3. Establish and maintain effective relationships with shareholder’s, maintain shareholder database.
  4. Organize, attend, and/or participate in special events and promotions advocating for Shared Harvest, the Elgin Food Cooperative
  5. Serve as spokesperson for the organization at outreach events.
  6. Performs and supervises all communication, outreach, marketing, public relations, and media duties relating to Shared Harvest as required.
  7. Plans, organizes and assigns volunteer support staff as needed.
  8. The Outreach Coordinator assists the Board Marketing Committee with the aforementioned duties and performs other related tasks as required.
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing/ Advertising, Business or other related degree; or two plus years of increasingly responsible relevant work experience; previous experience working in sales/marketing or food industry desired.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Proficiency in MS Office Applications, database and spreadsheet software. Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required. Must have the ability to effectively prepare and present information to various groups. The ability to work independently or with others to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision is essential. Knowledge of marketing principles to develop and implement strategies to promote share sales and develop customer relationships is essential.

Part time 19.5 hours per week, through December 31st 2016. Hourly rate $12 per hour
