LocalHarvest National Directory

The LocalHarvest National Directory is a grassroots, online directory of over 40,000 family farms and farmers markets, along with restaurants and grocery stores that feature local food nationwide. Search for area farms, farmers markets, CSAs, U-pick, farm stands and more. The directory is grassroots in that individual producers maintain their LocalHarvest listing. Shared Harvest of Elgin is not responsible for the accuracy of the directory’s information, and encourages community members to seek out and support local and organic producers. Farmers seeking to be added to the LocalHarvest directory should visit https://www.localharvest.org/about.jsp

Elgin Local Food Guide 2020

The objectives of Shared Harvest, in addition to opening our own community-owned grocery store, have been to educate our community about the importance of local foods and the local food system to our health and to the sustainability of the region. Additionally, we strive to make local foods available to everyone in our community and thereby support local farms and farmers. The following guide, though a snapshot in time, gives you more access to the important local food scene in the Fox Valley Region.
